Gift Guide for a 2 year old- Non Noise making toys
Here is another gift guide for a two year old. Our toddler's birthday is in July so as you can see he got a lot of outdoor toys.
As previously mentioned- I am always looking for toys that don't make artificial nosies because I personally get way over stimulated from them. I am also always trying to find toys that are slightly advanced for him that he can grow into. In the beginning he is often unsure how to play with these but it gives him a challenge to work through and figure it out.
Something else that I should mention is that we don't buy all of these- I am a part of a local buy nothing group and have scored multiple higher price items for free. This is definitely something to look into- a lot of the toys we get still have a lot of life in them.
Large Dump Truck
My husbands Aunt had this dump truck at her house when we came to visit and it was such a HUGE hit for him. Needless to say it was on our doorstep by the time we got home from the trip. He just has so much fun pushing this around, putting toys in it and riding in it when he can convince someone to push him. This is a great toy for gross motor skill development.

Trampoline
This is another classic toy- it can be indoor or outdoor. We chose to keep it outside because we don't have space and we got it from someone else who kept it outside. It's great for gross motor skill development and learning how to jump and balance.

Water Table
Ok I know this is double dipping because it was on my list last year but I cannot recommend it enough. In summer we easily play with this every day. I know we will most likely get another years use out of it as well. Also next year his little brother will be able to play with it.

Bubble Machine
What could be more fun that bubbles? Easy entertainment. We've brought this to the park a few times as well when we are meeting up for playdates and it's always a hit with a variety of ages. Plus it saves you from blowing bubbles all the time.

Play doh tools
This is a great toy for a rainy day, sensory play, or special 1:1 time with your toddler. Play doh is also really fun for pretend play and expanding imagination. My toddler loves when I make cupcakes out of play doh and pretend to eat them.
Pro tip- we made our own play doh- you don't have to do that but it was nice to have one color play doh at this age. They are going to mix it all together I would just stick to one color and then add more once they get a little older.
Additional Pro tip- get some sort of container to store all the tools in for easy storage and keeping all the pieces together.

Cosy Coupe
The most classic toy. A bit of an eyesore but at this point I've already surrendered and accepted all the brightly colored kid toys that have taken over my house. We keep ours outside and our toddler loves this thing. Plus I love on the this one that there is a cup holder and a handle on the back for when they get stuck.

Stepping Stones
Strider Bike
This is a bike with no pedals or training wheels. They learn to "ride it" by balancing it and building their core strength. We started him with a four wheeled bike when he was one year old and then got this bike right before he turned two. He was able to apply the skills he learned over the year on the other bike (steering balance etc) and apply it to this one. The goal is to eventually get him a "real" bike and he won't need training wheels.

Airplane
Great little Melissa and Doug Toy. Our toddler is very into airplanes because we live near an airport and they fly by our house all the time. We were taking a trip on an airplane and got this for him a month or two before the flight. We used it to prep him for being on an airplane and it helped him understand what was happening the day of the flight. I love that it is strong and wooden and that you can make all the sounds yourself! My only beef with it is that all the figures that come with it are male- which I find kind of strange- girls fly on planes too!

Sandbox
Another sensory and outdoor hit for us. My dad built this sandbox for us but you can find them all over. We got the sand toys set from Costco. This is a great entertainer. We've been learning to build castles and dig! I also know that this is an investment toy that we will get multiple years of use from.
Small Vehicles
Our toddler really hit the truck phase right before his second birthday. I love how he drives them around the house and makes all the noises for them. We've since expanded to boats and trains as well. These toys are so good for gross and fine motor skill development as well as imaginative play. I really like the company "Green Toys" for trucks and other vehicles. They are lightweight, easy to clean and don't make artificial noise.
Puzzles
We got our toddler some knob puzzles for christmas and he LOVED them. In the last 6 months he became an expert at all of them and I knew we had to upgrade them. We found these new puzzles- they are harder but he is just as fascinated with them. It's also been a good lesson about working through frustration. I would say these are a little hard for him so if your 2 year old isn't as interested in puzzles yet I might wait another 6 months to a year before getting these.

Non Toy item- Visual timers
It was at 2 that we introduced timers to our toddler. This helped us so much with transitions and helped us explain time to him. While this isn't a toy I thought this might be a good thing to ask for if someone is willing to buy a non- toy item.
