Exploring Anderson Island, WA

My parents were going to be in town and we wanted to try something new that was "senior" and toddler friendly. My kids love being outside and typically behave better when are able to run around and be themselves.
I came across this hike on Anderson Island and I thought it would be fun to try.

How do you get to Anderson Island?

This was my first question- because it's an island you have to take a ferry. The ferry leaves from Steliacoom. You can drive your car onto the ferry or you can walk on. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the island on the ferry.
Here is the ferry website for  schedules: https://www.piercecountywa.gov/2200/Ferry-Schedule

Warning: There isn't much else on Anderson island. Make sure your car has enough gas and that you have plenty of food and snacks. There is literally one resutraunt and one "cafe" that has some basic groceries.

We then went to Andy's Marine Park- which is on the opposite side of the island from where the ferry drops you off. We parked and hiked the 1 mile trail through the woods to the rocky beach. The trail was very easy and perfect for seniors. My almost 3 year old was able to hike the entire thing- with some encouragement and snacks.

The beach is an additional 3/4 mile long if you want to walk up and down it. We just stayed in the inlet area. My toddler had a blast running up and down and throwing rocks into the water.

Overall this was a really fun day trip. It was fun to explore a new part of Washington and see something new. This is a very easy and fun trail for seniors and toddlers!
