Traveling to San Antonio Texas with Toddlers

We recently traveled to San Antonio with our toddlers over spring break. We had an absolute blast- here are some of the things that we did:

Riverwalk

Not gonna lie the Riverwalk gave me some anxiety the whole time that we were doing it. But my toddler loved it! He had so much fun going up and down the bridges and looking at all the different shops along the water. I always just made sure that there was an adult on the side that was closests to the water. This area is not very stroller friendly it's narrow and there is a lot of uneven terrain. We mostly carried our kids through this which can be tiring.

The Alamo

For me the Alamo wasn't much to remember but it was fairly kid and toddler friendly. It's mostly outside and there is a lot of land to explore. It's also free to get into- you can pay extra for audio guides but we chose not to.

San Antonio Botanical Gardens

This was a very fun place to take toddlers. They have a whole family play area with a play creek that was a big hit. Many parents brought swimsuits and let their kids play in the creek. It's also just a fun area to explore and see all the plants. Make sure you bring water because there is not a lot of shade and it's hot!

San Juan Mission National Historical Park

This is a free national park in the south of San Antonio. This was a great place for our toddlers to run around and explore while you can learn about the history of the area. There are some small hiking trails behind it and a large bike trail if you also need to burn some kid energy.

Natural Caverns Cave Tour

This is located about 45 minutes north of San Antonio so we did it on a travel day when we were leaving San Antonio but it was a big hit. The nice thing about this cave is that the temperature is 70 in the cave which is great compared to all the caves I've been in in the midwest which are typically 50. I would recommend buying tickets in advance. Everyone really liked exploring this cave.

Buccees

Ok this technically isn't in San Antonio but it's a little bit outside of it. I've been hearing about these gas stations for years and decided we needed to go. It was quite an experience. The only con about it that I didn't realize is that there is no where to sit and eat food. I get that it's a gas station with the size it is and the amount of food they sell you'd think they'd have a few tables. We also got to meet Buccee while we were there which was fun.

Overall we had a really fun time!! Would recommend exploring the area if you ever get a chance!
